On December 31, 1999 Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) accepted the first delivery of natural gas from the Sable Offshore Energy Project. Since then, it has grown to include four laterals and is serving markets in Point Tupper, Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, St. George and Fredericton.

Energy System of Choice

The M&NP system was built to grow as the Scotian Basin grows. It is readily expandable and able to accommodate large or small requests for service.

By using the existing pipeline corridor, M&NP provides a timing advantage to market and is environmentally superior to alternative pipeline proposals. Such economic expansions will also lower M&NP‘s transportation rates, making it the best option to transport natural gas to growing markets in Canada and the United States.

Growing an Industry

The M&NP system is essential to the development of the natural gas industry in the Maritimes. By providing a reliable competitive transportation system, M&NP is allowing the East Coast natural gas industry to compete on a global basis to respond to the energy needs of North America.

M&NP is excited to be part of the east coast oil & gas industry, which is still in the early stages of its development. Total investment in the system has reached CDN$2 Billion with over $50 Million injected annually into the economies of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia through taxes and operational spending.
